WATER
BAPTISMS
at Victory Outreach Ventura
Water Baptism is a joyful step of obedience to Jesus. It’s an outward sign of the inward change that happens when we put our faith in Christ.
Who can be baptized?
Anyone who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and desires to follow Him. Baptism doesn’t save us—it shows the world that we have already made the decision to follow Him.
How old do you need to be?
We believe baptism should be a personal decision. Because of this, we ask that children be at least 11 years old (old enough to understand the meaning of baptism and the commitment they’re making). Parents, we encourage you to guide your children in faith and wait until they’re ready to fully grasp this important step.
What if I’ve been baptized before?
Baptism is meant to be a one-time declaration of faith and doesn’t need to be repeated. However, some people who have walked away from God feel strongly about being baptized again as part of their rededication. While we don’t teach that re-baptism is required, we do welcome those who choose to take this step.
Do I need to take a class?
Yes. Everyone attends a short Water Baptism Class where we explain the meaning of baptism and answer questions so you’re prepared for this special day.
What should I bring?
* A change of clothes
* A towel
* A heart ready to celebrate what God has done!
