Child dedications are a time for parents to commit themselves to raising their child God’s way. It’s a powerful time for parents to embrace the responsibility they’ve been given by God and to catch a vision of the impact they can make in their child’s life.
“I PRAYED FOR THIS CHILD, AND THE LORD HAS GRANTED ME WHAT I ASKED OF HIM. SO NOW I GIVE HIM TO THE LORD. FOR HIS WHOLE LIFE HE WILL BE GIVEN OVER TO THE LORD.”
COMMON QUESTIONS
Do I need to be a member to dedicate my child?
You do not need to be a member of Victory Outreach to dedicate your child. We encourage families to have a home church where they can partner with God and the church to raise their child in God’s ways. If you do not have a home church, we welcome you to join us and be part of the family.
Can a single parent participate in a child dedication service?
Yes! Child dedication signifies the commitment of parents, including single parents, to do their best to raise their child to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We encourage single parents to include any important figures in their child’s life to be a part of the dedication. As a church, Victory Outreach Ventura is committed to supporting single parents in providing a Christian foundation for their child’s upbringing.
Is Dedication the same as Baptism?
We believe Baptism is for those who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior and have reached an age of maturity to make their faith a public declaration.
Dedication is not a sacrament; nor does it impart Salvation to a child. Salvation only comes through repentance of sin and acknowledgement of Jesus as their personal savior.
Rather than baptizing infants or children, we encourage a dedication ceremony. This is where parents can formally call upon God’s blessing for their child and publicly commit to raising him or her in accordance with scripture.
What should I expect for Child Dedications?
Child Dedication service is a day where we partner with parent(s) to publicly commit to help their child grow in their faith and be raised in a God-centered home. Our team welcomes the child and parent(s), prays over each family, and presents a Dedication Certificate to each child. After the service we will celebrate with the rest of the congregation.
When are Child Dedications?
